Read on to find out more about Matt, his life at BDS, and what the funniest thing that ever happened to him was.

Q: In three words, how would you describe yourself?

A: Introverted, thoughtful, and analytical.

Q: In three words, how would you describe your career?

A: Dynamic, unexpected, challenging.

Q: What is your favorite holiday? Why?

A: I would have to say Christmas. I’m a cold-weather person, so I love the snow, and like most people, I associate Christmas with a lot of good memories.

Q: What is the funniest thing that happened to you?

As I was driving down in one of the major streets in my area, I saw that the stoplight in front of me turned yellow. I thought that I wasn’t going to make it, so I slammed on my brakes. As soon as my car stopped, I heard a loud “whoosh” sound and suddenly there was this white cloud of smoke that filled my car. I couldn’t see or breathe, so I got out of my car and luckily the light was still red. After I took a couple of breaths, I looked at my car and it had suddenly stopped smoking. I opened the door to my backseat and saw what happened – I had a fire extinguisher in the back that had flown off the seat and landed on the floor, which caused it to go off. Needless to say, it took a VERY long time to get the car cleaned.

Q: If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?

A: I would like to travel back to the early 1900s – there was this massive boom in technology and I would have liked to see how life was before we got to the point where everyone had a handheld device.

Q: If you could sing one song on American Idol or The Voice, what would it be?

A: Probably “I Miss You” by Incubus.

Q: What is your favorite food?

I’d say a really good steak – like a beef tenderloin steak is probably my favorite.

Q: Where would you recommend going on vacation? Why?

A: I would say the Pacific Northwest – I think the terrain out there is gorgeous and it has a little bit of everything that I want – it has heavily wooded areas and places to climb and hike. I used to climb as a kid, and as much as I like Illinois for a lot of reasons, I really love the outdoors and I would love to move somewhere like the Pacific Northwest.
