BDSmktg Employee Spotlight: Lauren S., Human Resource Business Partner
05.10.2016This month’s Employee Spotlight features our Human Resource Business Partner, Lauren S. As a loyal BDSer for over five years, Lauren supports the agency by working with her client teams and other employees to answer any questions relating to Human Resources. If she doesn’t have the answer, you can rest assured that she will find the subject matter expert to assist you. Her positive attitude, friendly smile, and always helpful demeanor make her an outstanding BDSer to work with. Outside of work, Lauren enjoys weekend getaways with her friends, training for upcoming half-marathons, and doing her part to make the world a better place.
Q: What is your favorite part about working for BDS?
A: BDS embodies the entrepreneurial spirit. No matter what your level, you have the ability to take risks and try something new, and are even encouraged to think outside of the box. If the risk doesn’t pay off, it is seen as a learning opportunity for the next time. BDS is also a place you can wear multiple hats and expand your skill set. There are so many people that work incredibly hard here, and often take on challenges outside of their current position.
Q: How do you think people would communicate in a perfect world?
A: “The single biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it has taken place.” I read an article recently that quoted George Bernard Shaw saying this. I think in a perfect world, people would actively listen to one another and the intent would be to seek better understanding from another’s perspective.
Q: What is your goal in life?
A: One of my goals in life is the same as most Miss America contestants: I want to make the world a better place, whether this happens on a micro level through day-to-day engagements, or on a much larger scale. Anything I can do to bring more kindness to the world would help me move towards accomplishing this goal.
Q: Where did you go on your last vacation and where do you want to go next?
A: It’s been a while since I have been on a vacation. I will be going to Italy for one of my dearest friend’s wedding and then traveling to England. I have never been out of the country, so this will be an incredible experience.
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I was born in Minnesota, but raised in Colorado. Both places are beautiful in their own right, but my heart will always be tied to the Midwest – despite the frigid winters.
