BDSmktg Employee Spotlight: John B., Director of Client Services
09.07.2016This month’s Employee Spotlight features John B., a loyal BDSer for more than four years. As the Director of Client Services, working closely with the Break Fix and Merchandising teams, he supports the display maintenance in major retails for a wide variety of clients and lifestyle brands. John’s strong work ethic, positive attitude, and outstanding sense of humor make him a great BDSer to work with. During his spare time, John loves spending quality time with his family, as well as sustaining his passion for music by attending concerts and music festivals. This year, he plans on exploring the tropics with his family – what an awesome year to look forward to!
Q: What does a typical day look like for a Director of Client Services?
A: No day is typical in my line of work, no matter how much planning is done. The biggest key is to think a few steps ahead and to always have a plan. Something interesting is always happening and that’s what makes my role exciting. The team I work with is amazing and couldn’t be happier to have such great collaborators.
Q: What is your favorite part about working for BDS?
A: The people and the leadership. In my years of retail and agency experience, I have never worked for a business with such a thoughtful, smart and inspirational team as I do at BDSmktg. Everyone truly cares about the clients, the business and each other. Nobody beats BDS!
Q: What is your favorite movie of all time? Why?
A: That’s a tough one because I guess I have a lot of favorite movies. Some of them are Heat (Deniro/Pacino/Kilmer), Reservoir Dogs (or anything Tarantino), District 9, Life Aquatic, and Step Brothers to name a few.
Q: What is your favorite holiday? Why?
A: Christmas is likely number one, closely followed by 4th of July and Halloween. I think these rank high because my kids love them so much and I relive my childhood through them.
Q: Do you have a hobby?
A: This jumps back up to my passion for music. Going to concerts with my wife and friends, and planning trips to festivals each year. Coachella has been an annual ritual for me since 1999. I’m not a sports guy, even though I enjoy watching and playing soccer.
Q: What’s a secret skill that you have?
A: Beat matching, mixing and producing music. A long time ago in a galaxy far away, I used to produce my own music and moonlighted as a vinyl DJ hosting weekly events at several clubs in Santa Monica and Hollywood.
